Tandem Paragliding Flight (Prime)

30-45 minutes airtimeEasy

Operated by ParaBooking

This 40 min long flight gives you the freedom to soar, circle & ride natural thermals, staying airborne longer & travelling farther. Longer flying time means more time to soak in the views or feel flying like a bird!

Highlights

30 to 45 minutes of thermic flying — roughly double the Classic airtime.

Climb well above the 2500 m take-off point on rising thermals, the way eagles and vultures do.

Glide out to a neighbouring ridge before returning to land at Bir.

GoPro video and ASC360 insurance included, with an Insta360 upgrade available.

Free hotel pickup and transport to the Billing take-off.

Reserve parachute and EN-certified glider on every flight.

Overview

Take off with a certified pilot and glide over valleys, ridgelines and villages. Prime is our longer, higher tandem flight. You'll get more time in the air to ride thermals, take in the views and, if you like, take the controls for a few moments. No experience is needed. Your pilot handles the launch, the flight and the landing while you enjoy the ride. A short safety briefing comes first, you're fully harnessed and helmeted, and you can add GoPro photos and video to relive the flight later.

Itinerary

Day 1Your Bir-Billing tandem flight

Your one-day experience starts with hotel pickup and an initial safety briefing at the ParaBooking office. The team then drives you to the 2,500 m Billing take-off, where your pilot fits the harness and helmet, checks the conditions and gives the final launch briefing. Strap in with your pilot and jog down a gentle slope until airborne. Your pilot latches on to rising packets of hot air called thermals to climb above take-off, then glides out over the Billing forest towards a nearby ridge with the Dhauladhar range filling the horizon. Sit back, relax, and enjoy your flight. After landing, the ground team checks on you, helps with the harness, transfers your GoPro footage and coordinates the end of your experience.

FAQs

How long is the flight?

Prime is a thermic flight that will sustain you in the air from anywhere between 30 minutes and 45 minutes, depending on conditions on the day.

What is the Insta360 upgrade?

GoPro footage is included as standard. An Insta360 video upgrade is available on Prime for an extra ₹1,000, selected at the time of booking.

What is not included in the price?

Food and drinks, hotel drop-off, still photographs at the landing site, and gratuities are not included.

Do I need prior experience?

No prior experience is required. All our tandem paragliding experiences are designed for beginners, and the pilot handles the entire flight.

Is paragliding in Bir Billing safe?

Yes, tandem paragliding in Bir Billing is safe when conducted by a reputed operator, experienced pilots using certified equipment and flying in suitable weather conditions. When flying with a reputed provider like ParaBooking, extra safety measures are taken, from provider trackable flights to maintaining radio contact; safety checks on equipment, weather, and flying personnel are performed before every departure.

Why do I need a reserve parachute?

A reserve parachute can be a lifeline in an extremely rare scenario where the glider has malfunctioned. In such a scenario, your pilot is trained to deploy the reserve which can parachute you to safety.

Am I covered by insurance?

Yes. ParaBooking includes commercial paragliding cover through ASC360 for the pilot and passenger. Coverage limits and eligibility can change between policy periods, so the insurance certificate issued for your flight and the insurer's current terms take precedence over any summary.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothes that give you freedom to move. There is quite an elevation gain between the pickup point and the take-off site, so wear a thermal, fleece or jumper in summer, and a thick wind-proof jacket with gloves for winter flights. Good running or hiking shoes are mandatory for all flights.

Can I bring my camera or phone?

For your safety we do not permit the use of a camera or cell phone during the flight. All valuables must be safely stowed in the harness. Once you land, your pilot will transfer the GoPro video and photos to your phone.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellations more than 72 hours before the scheduled slot are refunded in full, as are cancellations for bad weather, VIP movement, or any cancellation we initiate. Between 72 and 24 hours you receive 50%. Under 24 hours, or a no-show, is non-refundable. Reporting time is 30 minutes before your chosen pickup time.

When is paragliding not available?

Paragliding is closed during the monsoon, roughly 15 July to 15 September, due to rain and unstable wind. The season runs October to June, and the best months for long flights are March-April and October-November.
