FAQs

How long is the flight?

XC flights stay afloat anywhere between 90 minutes and 120 minutes, based on the weather conditions. Because the landing point depends on the day's conditions, budget generously for the return drive.

Which is the best season for XC/Cross-country flying?

The strongest cross-country conditions are in March-May and October-December. XC flights wont be available in peak Winter and Monsoon.

Where will I land?

Unlike the Classic and Prime flights, an XC flight does not have a fixed landing site. You land wherever the day's flight takes you, which may be well down the valley. Confirm retrieve arrangements with the team when you book.

What is not included in the price?

Food and drinks, hotel drop-off, still photographs at the landing site, and gratuities are not included.

Do I need prior experience?

No prior experience is required. All our tandem paragliding experiences are designed for beginners, and the pilot handles the entire flight.

Is paragliding in Bir-Billing safe?

Yes, tandem paragliding in Bir-Billing is safe when conducted by a reputed operator, experienced pilots using certified equipment and flying in suitable weather conditions. When flying with a reputed provider like ParaBooking, extra safety measures are taken, from providing trackable flights to maintaining radio contact; safety checks on equipment, weather and flying personnel are performed before every departure.

Why do I need a reserve parachute?

A reserve parachute can be a lifeline in an extremely rare scenario where the glider has malfunctioned. In such a scenario, your pilot is trained to deploy the reserve wing which can land you to safety.

Am I covered by insurance?

Yes. ParaBooking includes commercial paragliding cover through ASC360 for the pilot and passenger. Coverage limits and eligibility can change between policy periods, so the insurance certificate issued for your flight and the insurer's current terms take precedence over any summary.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothes that give you freedom to move. There is quite an elevation gain between the pickup point and the take-off site, so wear a thermal, fleece or jumper in summer, and a thick wind-proof jacket with gloves for winter flights. Good running or hiking shoes are mandatory for all flights.

Can I bring my camera or phone?

For your safety we do not permit the use of a camera or cell phone during the flight. All valuables must be safely stored in the harness. Once you land, your pilot will share the GoPro video and photos with you.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellations more than 72 hours before the scheduled slot are refunded in full, as are cancellations for bad weather, VIP movement, or any cancellation we initiate. Between 72 and 24 hours you receive 50%. Under 24 hours, or a no-show, is non-refundable. Reporting time is 30 minutes before your chosen pickup time.

When is paragliding not available?

Paragliding is closed during the monsoon, roughly 15 July to 15 September, due to rain and unstable wind. The season runs October to June, and the best months for long flights are March-April and October-December.
