FAQs

How hard is this trek?

The Western Himalaya grade it Extreme, their hardest tier — above the Difficult grade they give Thamsar Pass. It is 84 km over ten days and crosses a 15,400 ft pass twice.

How is this different from other Bara Bhangal treks?

Most operators run Bara Bhangal as a Manali-to-Bir traverse over Kalihani and Thamsar passes. The Western Himalaya run it out-and-back from Bir over Thamsar in both directions.

What will I be provided with on a trip?

We will provide all the equipment and logistics — sleeping bags, tent accommodation, cooked food, guide and trek support team — needed for the trip.

Can I bring my own gear on a trip?

Yes, you may bring your own gear. However, please check with your trip leader for any exceptions at least one week before the departure date. Keep in mind this will not lower the trip cost.

How do I book?

For fixed departure treks, booking is available online. For custom group trips, send us your enquiry by email or WhatsApp. Online booking on a fixed departure batch is not valid for foreign nationals — please reach out to us directly before booking.

Is insurance included?
