Shayadri / Destination
Shayadri — Destination. Come for the views.
Stay for the stories.
The Sahyadris are the Maharashtra stretch of the Western Ghats — the steep western wall of the Deccan, running from the Tapi near the Gujarat border down toward Goa. Average height is about 1,000–1,200 m; Kalsubai, at 1,646 m, is the highest peak in the state.
West of the crest the hills drop into the Konkan. East they ease into the Deccan. In monsoon the plateaus turn green, trails go through forest, and ridgelines sit in mist. Classic walks sit around Matheran, Raigad, and the Pune–Nashik belt: Garbett Plateau, Harishchandragad, Kalsubai, and a long list of fort treks.
GoLeap lists guided day treks and overnight routes here. Start with Garbett Plateau from Bhivpuri — an 8–10 km medium walk to about 800 m, with forest trail and an open plateau above the Matheran range.
Many adventures.

GoLeap pickTower Hill, Kamshet
The east-facing training hill by the old Mumbai–Pune highway. It works in winter, roughly November to February; pilots fly it in the morning and again late in the afternoon.
GoLeap pickKonkan Kada
The near-vertical, cobra-hood cliff at Harishchandragad, dropping about 1,800 feet over the Konkan. The Pachnai route (about 3 km, with railings and ladders) is the easiest way up.

Shelar launch
The west-facing site about 10 km from Tower Hill, flying from January to May: ridge and thermal soaring and long sunset glides. For trained pilots, or with an instructor.

Rajmachi forts
Two forts, Shriwardhan and Manaranjan, both reached from the base village of Udhewadi. Walk in from Lonavala or drive part of the way. Best in the monsoon and winter.

Kedareshwar cave
Beside the Harishchandreshwar temple: a cave with a large Shiva linga standing in water.

Arthur Lake and Randha Falls
Bhandardara's lake and its big waterfall. Mid-May to June, before the monsoon, the forests round here light up with fireflies.
